1960 to 1969 Kahn's Wieners Complete Set Collection (397 cards/11 Sets)

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $14,100

Collection of eleven extremely high grade complete sets (two sets are near-complete, each missing a single card) issued by Kahn’s Wieners. These cards are part of an exceptional 1960s original-owner collection of cards that were saved in the year of issue and have not seen the light of day since the 1960s! When these sets arrived in our offices, sent in by the wife of the original owner, we were amazed by the condition. The sets were obviously obtained by mail directly from the company and are some of the finest sets of 1960s Kahn's Wieners baseball we have ever seen or offered. All of the cards are bright, crisp, and incredibly fresh across the board. We have selected twelve cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. 1) 1960 Near-Complete Set (41 of 42): Missing only Kuenn for completion. Thirty-one cards range from grade Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, ten cards are lesser. Keys: Clemente (paper loss on the bottom edge of the reverse, otherwise Vg), Kluszewski (Vg-Ex), Martin (paper loss along the lower right edge of the reverse, otherwise Vg-Ex), Mazeroski (Ex), and Robinson (Vg-Ex). 2) 1961 Complete Set (43): Forty cards range from grade Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, three cards are lesser. Keys: Clemente (SGC NM 84), Mazeroski (Nr/Mt), and Robinson (SGC EX/NM 80). 3) 1962 Complete Set (38 different plus three variations and one duplicate for a total of 42 cards): Thirty-seven cards range from grade Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, five cards are lesser. Keys: Bell (with umpire in background, Vg-Ex), Clemente (SGC EX+ 70), Mazeroski (Ex-Mt), Power (Twins back, Gd), and Robinson (Ex-Mt). 4) 1962 Atlanta Crackers Complete Set (24): Minor league series highlighted by future major leaguer Tim McCarver (Ex). Thirteen cards range from grade Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, eleven cards are lesser. 5) 1963 Complete Set (30): Twenty-three cards range from grade Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, seven cards are lesser. Keys: Aaron - small (Nr/Mt-Mt), Bench (SGC EX/NM 80), Jenkins (Nr/Mt-Mt), Mazeroski (Nr/Mt), Perez (Ex-Mt), and B. Williams (Nr/Mt). This is a remarkably crisp high-grade set collection of these popular and attractive regional issues, with all of the key cards particularly strong. Kahn's Wieners cards are striking, unusual, and far rarer than most 1960s baseball cards. They are also one of the few food issues of the era. The equivalent SMR value of just the twelve SGC-graded cards alone (not including the 385 ungraded cards) is $3,070. Total 397 cards representing eleven sets. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000++. SOLD FOR $14,100
