1955 Bowman #179 Hank Aaron - SGC MINT 96 - Highest Graded!
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,233
Graded MINT 96 by SGC. Highest-graded example! Outstanding ultra high-grade example of “Home Run King” Hank Aaron from the classic 1955 Bowman set. His rookie-year record appears on the reverse, showing great promise with 131 hits, a .280 average, and 13 home runs. While these were impressive numbers, no one could have imagined Aaron's extraordinary future when this card was issued! The 1955 Bowman set is prone to corner and edge chipping. There is no chipping what so ever on the condition-sensitive brown borders. This is a pack-fresh gem with flawless colors, perfect gloss, and four razor-sharp corners. SGC has graded 182 examples of 1955 Bowman #179. As noted above, this is the only MINT 96 example ever graded (with none graded higher). PSA has graded 984 examples to date, and of these only four have graded MINT 9 (also with none graded higher). This is an extraordinary example of one of Hank Aaron's most important early cards, and a world-class example of one of the key cards in this very popular and condition-sensitive 1950s Bowman set. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,233
