1955 Topps Complete Set (206)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,644

15% Ex-Mt, 55% range from Vg-Ex to Ex, and 30% Vg and lesser grades (mostly Vg). This is a very attractive, clean, and bright technically mid-grade complete set of the classic 1955 Topps issue. Highlighted by the rookie cards of Sandy Koufax and Roberto Clemente, the 1955 Topps also includes many additional key star cards, including Ted Williams and Willie Mays. We have selected four cards to be graded by SGC. Keys: #1 Rhodes (10/90 T/B, otherwise Vg-Ex/Ex), 2 Williams (Gd), 4 Kaline (Vg-Ex), 28 Banks (10/90 T/B, otherwise Ex), 31 Spahn (Ex-Mt), 47 Aaron (SGC EX/NM 80), 50 Robinson (Ex), 100 Irvin (Ex), 120 Kluszewski (Ex-Mt), 123 Koufax RC (SGC VG/EX 50), 124 Killebrew RC (Ex-Mt), 125 Boyer RC (Gd), 152 Agganis RC (Ex), 155 Mathews (Gd-Vg), 164 Clemente (SGC VG/EX 50), 187 Hodges (Gd), 189 Rizzuto (Ex-Mt), 194 Mays (SGC EX 60), 198 Berra (miscut along the left border, otherwise Ex), and 210 Snider (Vg-Ex). If this set were shown to your noncollecting neighbors, they would probably be marveling at the strong condition and how brand-new it looks. But in the high-grade obsessed card world, this is technically just an average mid-grade set. The entire set might actually sell for less than a single low pop PSA 9 Mint common card! This is great for true collectors and is still amazing to us. Affordable, attractive mid-grade sets of classic issues from the 1950s such as this are not easy to find (let alone with extremely pleasing graded examples of key cards as found here) and always generate tremendous collector interest. Total 206 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,644
