1954 Topps Complete Set (250)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,644

15% Ex (with a few slightly better), 75% range in grade from Vg to Vg-Ex, and 10% lesser grades. Highlighted by a particularly strong example of key rookie card #128 Hank Aaron (SGC EX+ 70). This is the type of vintage set that many collectors consider the very best value. The cards are classic, they look great, and they don't cost a fortune compared to higher-grade cards. In many cases, in the highest grades, a few commons from an early 1950s set can be valued at more than an entire set such as this, and when it comes time to selling, a set such as this will actually generate far more interest from collectors as well, precisely because they are more affordable. We have selected three cards to be graded by SGC. Keys: #1 Williams (Pr), 3 Irvin (Gd), 7 Kluszewski (Pr), 10 Robinson (Gd), 13 Martin (Gd-Vg), 17 Rizzuto (Vg), 20 Spahn (Vg), 30 Mathews (Gd-Vg), 32 Snider (trimmed), 36 Wilhelm (Vg), 37 Ford (Vg), 45 Ashburn (Vg-Ex), 50 Berra (Fr), 70 Doby (Vg-Ex), 90 Mays (Vg-Ex), 94 Banks RC (SGC VG/EX 50), 102 Hodges (Vg), 128 Aaron RC (SGC EX+ 70) , 132 Lasorda RC (ink stamp on back, otherwise Ex), 201 Kaline RC (SGC EX 60), 239 Skowron RC (Vg), and 250 Williams (Vg). A very attractive, low-grade complete set of this classic, early 1950s Topps issue. Total: 250 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,644
