1934 D382 Tarzan Bread "Chief" Hogsett

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $705

Exceptional example of Tarzan Bread, long recognized as one of the rarest sets (and most difficult to find sample cards) of the 1930s, featuring Elon "Chief" Hogsett of the St. Louis Browns. While the card has been graded FAIR 20 by SGC, this magnificent example has an EX appearance from the front. Very close examination reveals a few very light creases (more noticeable from the reverse). The card was long ago mounted in an album, and was later removed. On the reverse is some minute surface paper loss (which affects the letter "T" in Tarzan) and which is responsible for the harsh technical grade. Aside from this flaw, the card is in Vg-Ex/Ex condition and has an even more impressive appearance. Bright, perfectly clean and crisp, with sharp corners. This is an extremely attractive sample card from this rare 1930s card set. Reserve $200. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $705
