1935 R309-2 Goudey Premium Mickey Cochrane

Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $353

Unbelievably extraordinary ultra high-grade R309-2 Mickey Cochrane. R309-2s are among the rarest and most overlooked of all 1930s premium cards. Issued in 1935 by Goudey Gum, and catalogued R309-2 in the ACC , this large format (5.5 x 9.5 inches) set is printed on thin, glossy stock and was available only from retailers in exchange for Goudey Gum wrappers. They have the look of "giant R314" Goudey premiums. They are naturally rare in any condition, and due to their size are almost never found in high grade. These premium cards are printed on thin, glossy stock, and are very susceptible to all kinds of faults, especially creases. This is a rare and notable exception. It is virtually unheard of to see an R309-2 is such high-grade. This R309-2 example of Mickey Cochrane is in virtually flawless condition. It is bright and crisp, with a flawless surface, no creases, four sharp corners, and an outstanding image. The blank back is perfectly clean (a small black mark near the lower left edge is mentioned strictly for accuracy). Cochrane is one of only four individual Hall of Famers in the R309-2 set (one additional Hall of Famer is included on a multiplayer card). Near Mint to Mint condition. Reserve $100. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $353
