1933 R300 George C. Miller PSA-Graded Collection Including Andrews (12) Ex-Conlon
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $11,163
Outstanding collection of twelve different cards (of the thirty-two in the set) from the R300 George C. Miller & Company set, one of the most unusual and rare issues of the 1930s, and one of the most artistically unique sets of any era. The collection is highlighted by eight Hall of Famers including Jimmy Foxx, as well as the Ivy Andrews card (one of the true rarities in all of card collecting). This is a very substantial group of R300. Cards from this set usually have to be collected one at a time due to their extreme rarity. This collection represents a very significant jump start to putting together a set of this elusive issue, which has been an almost impossible feat for so many serious collectors in the past, especially because of the extremely rare Ivy Andrews redemption card. Only a few complete sets of R300 have ever been assembled. All twelve cards have been graded by PSA (except two SGC): Two EX 5: Dykes (Carter Collection, SGC EX 60) and L. Waner (HOF). Seven VG-EX 4: W. Ferrell, Foxx (HOF), Gehringer (HOF, VG-EX+ 4.5), Maranville (HOF, Carter Collection, SGC VG/EX 50), O’Doul, Simmons (HOF), and Terry (HOF). One VG 3: Frisch (HOF). One GOOD 2: Dickey (HOF). One Authentic: Andrews (Aside from the cancellation clipping, the card is in Excellent condition. The colors are vivid, and the card has virtually flawless registration). This is a tremendous collection of cards from one of the rarest and most artistically stunning sets ever issued. The SMR value for just 11 of the 12 cards (not including the Andrews card) is $9,000. The PSA-graded cards in this group were all originally from the Charlie Conlon Collection. Total: 12 cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $11,163
