1927 E126 American Caramel "Series of 60" Complete Set (60) Including Ruth and Cobb
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,231
Extremely rare complete 60-card set of 1927 E126 American Caramel, highlighted by fourteen Hall of Famers, including Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Walter Johnson, and Tris Speaker. This set is of special note as the final year of issue of the American Caramel Company. Keys: #6 Faber (Fr), 8 Schalk (Gd), 10 Southworth (Fr), 13 Alexander (Fr), 16 Collins (Gd), 17 Cobb (Pr, heavy creases), 27 Speaker (Gd), 28 Johnson (Gd), 29 Rice (Gd), 32 Carey (Gd), 38 Ruth (Fr; issued during Ruth's record-setting 1927 season, this is one of the rarest, as well as one of the most striking and unusual of all Babe Ruth cards), 49 Sisler (Pr), 52 Bancroft (Vg), and 60 Kelly (Fr). The balance of the cards grade as follows: 5% Vg, and 95% range from Pr to Gd-Vg. Almost all of the cards have a blue rubber stamp on the reverse. Overall very consistent and reasonably uniform in grade, with many cards having far superior eye-appeal than their technically accurate modest grades. Very attractive low-grade set of this rare issue, which includes some of the most difficult-to-find cards of many great Hall of Famers, including Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb. Total: 60 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,231
