1913 Zeenut PCL Partial Set (87/141)
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $7,050
Collection of 87 different (of the 149 in set as checklisted in The Standard Catalog ) 1913 Zeenut cards featuring Pacific Coast League players. The 1913 Zeenut set is comprised of players from six different teams (Los Angeles, Oakland, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Venice). A large group such as this is very rarely seen. This is the first large group of 1913 Zeenuts we have ever offered. 52% of the cards range from Vg to Ex (with a couple Ex-Mt), and 48% range from Pr to Gd-Vg. The collection consists of the following: Abbott, Ables, Baker, Baum, Becker, Berry, Boles, Brackenridge, Brooks, Cadreau, Carlisle, Cartwright, Chadbourne, Cheek, Christian, Clemons, Cook, Corhan, Coy, Derrick, Doane, Driscoll, Ellis, Fanning, Fisher, Fitzgerald, Gardner, Gregory (large), Grey, Hagerman, Hallinan, Henley, Hetling, Higginbotham, Hitt, Hoffman, Hogan (SF), Howard (LA), Howard (SF), Hughes, Johnson, Kane, Kenworthy, Killilay, Kores, Krapp, Krause, Krueger, Leard, Lewis, Lindsay, Maggart, Malarky, McArdie, McCarl, McCorry, McCredie, Meloan, Metzger, Miller, Mitze, Moore, Moran, Mundorf, Ness, Pearce, Pernoll, Raleigh, Riordan, Rohrer, Ryan, Schrim, Schmidt, Sepulveda, Spenger, Stanley, Tennant, Thomas, Tonneman, Tozer, Van Buren, West, Wolverton, Wotell, Wuffli, Zacher, and Zimmerman. As is usually the case with Zeenuts, the coupon at the bottom of each card has been neatly clipped away, as intended, to be redeemed for valuable prizes. Also as is usually the case with Zeenuts, most of the cards have a far superior appearance than suggested by their technically accurate modest grades. This "comes with the territory" with Zeenuts. This 1913 Zeenut partial set is part of an extraordinary comprehensive Zeenut collection, the finest we have ever handled. The collection was assembled over a period of many years by an extremely advanced pioneer collector, and has been broken down by year into a number of smaller but still very substantial lots. Total: 87 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $7,050
