1911 Zeenut PCL Buck Weaver
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,350
Graded VG 40 by SGC. Very scarce and desirable Buck Weaver card from the 1911 Zeenut PCL series. One of the few and perhaps the most majestic of all issued cards featuring Weaver, a member of the infamous 1919 Black Sox. He is pictured in full uniform with San Francisco of the Pacific Coast League, before his Major League playing days with the Chicago White Sox. Due to its method of issue (one card per box of candy) and large size (2.25 x 4 inches), this card is usually found in far lower grade. The card is bright and crisp, with even wear on the corners, a single diagonal crease near the upper left corner, and very well centered. The blank reverse has some light soiling. A very strong mid-grade example of what many collectors consider to be Weaver’s most attractive and desirable card from this scarce early minor-league issue. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+.
