1915 E145 Cracker Jack #30 Ty Cobb - SGC NM/MT 88

Starting Bid - $5,000, Sold For - $21,150

Graded NM/MT 88 by SGC. Only four examples have ever been graded at this level by SGC. Extraordinary super high-grade factory-set-fresh example of what many consider to be the most classic of all Ty Cobb cards. The Ty Cobb Cracker Jack is one of vintage-card collecting's greatest classics, very high on every list of iconic cards symbolizing the great appeal of vintage baseball card collecting. This is an incredible high-grade gem, and without question one of the finest examples in existence. The 1915 Cracker Jack is universally recognized to be one of Ty Cobb’s most striking and popular cards. We have always thought: This is what a Ty Cobb card is supposed to look like! It is also one of the most famous and highly prized cards in all of vintage-card collecting. The "Georgia Peach" is one of the big three key cards in the Cracker Jack set, along with Jackson and Wagner. The offered card is absolutely pristine, crisp, and perfectly fresh, with flawless registration, four sharp corners, and centered slightly to the right border (in part due to a very slight picture tilt common to the set). The red color of the background is particularly deep and bold. The reverse is perfectly clean with bold black text. This card was obviously once from an original factory set obtained by mail directly from the company. If not for a few barely noticeable pinpoint spots of toning on the lower left edge (of no consequence and barely visible even with magnification), we believe this card would approach Mint territory. Any short list of card collecting's greatest and most recognizable icons would include Ty Cobb's Cracker Jack card. This is one of the finest examples in existence of one of card collecting's undisputed classics. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $26,000. Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000/$15,000+. SOLD FOR $21,150
