1911 T208 Cullivan's Fireside Connie Mack
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,938
Graded POOR 10 by SGC. Low-grade but still very attractive example of key Hall of Famer Connie Mack from the extremely rare T208 Cullivan's Fireside series. This is one of four T208s that were among the highlights of a small but remarkable original-owner collection that included forty-nine T204 Ramlys, four T208 Firesides, fifty T206s, and sixty T205s, all new to the organized collecting world and presented in a total of sixteen lots in this auction. The card is bright and fairly clean, with a deep green background and crisp, perfect image. The corners have even wear; there are several minor creases, and a tiny pinhole on Mack's forehead. The tiny pinhole allows this card to technically grade only Poor, but it is still a striking example of one of the key cards in the set, and one of only several (possibly as few as four or five) examples known to exist. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $2,938
