1909-1911 T206 White Border Hall of Fame PSA-Graded Collection (2)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,231
Two extremely attractive and high-grade T206 White Border Hall of Famers, both graded by PSA (submitted by REA): Walter Johnson Hands at Chest (EX+ 5.5) and Christy Mathewson - White Cap (EX 5). This is a beautiful pair of high-grade cards from the most popular tobacco-card issue of the 1910 era. These two examples each exhibit four square corners, and are crisp and clean, with extremely strong colors. Both of these cards display as pack-fresh gems. The Mathewson has a couple surface creases in the lower left corner on the reverse; this is all that we can see that keeps this card from grading Ex-Mt or better. These cards were very carefully chosen for purchase by our consignor in the early days of conventions in the 1980s, long before the advent of professional grading, precisely due to their outstanding condition. In the "old days" both of these cards would have been called MINT! Whatever their technical grades, as can easily be seen, these are gems! This is a stunning pair of key Hall of Famers from this highly prized set, both in exceptionally high grade. Total: 2 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,231
