1909-1911 T206 White Borders Ty Cobb SGC-Graded Collection (2)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,350

Two of the four classic poses of Ty Cobb from the T206 White Borders series, each technically mid-grade cards with outstanding eye-appeal. This lot consists of SGC VG 40 examples of the bat-off-shoulder and bat-on-shoulder pose, both with Piedmont advertising backs. 1) The striking bat-off-shoulder pose is arguably the most attractive of Cobb's four poses in the T206 set. Hall of Famer Ty Cobb is captured in an intimidating batting pose, set against a deep, rich colorful background. This is a sharp-looking card: clean both front and back, with a flawless surface, even wear on the corners, well centered, with extremely vibrant colors, and perfect registration. This is a very attractive card with an image that really "pops." 2) The bat-on-shoulder card is one of the great classics of the set. This is a solid Vg example with a strong image, centered slightly towards the top left, light corner wear, and a light crease above Cobb’s right shoulder. This is remarkably attractive and (compared to higher-grade examples) relatively affordable pair of classic original Ty Cobb tobacco cards, representing a potentially outstanding vintage-card value. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grades is $1,675. Total: 2 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $2,350
