1909-1911 T206 Walter Johnson - Rookie Card (Old Mill Back)
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,058
Graded EX 5 by PSA. Hands-at-chest pose. Extremely attractive high-grade rookie card of Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson. Johnson, of course, is one of the key Hall of Famers in the T206 White Borders set. In addition to being in very high grade, the offered example is all the more noteworthy as the reverse has an advertisement for Old Mill Cigarettes. Old Mill is a scarce back, certainly not in the same league as Drum or Uzit, but unusual and seen far less often than the standard Piedmont or Sweet Caporal advertising backs. This T206 of Walter Johnson is a gorgeous card. It is bright and clean, with a deep blue background, and very light wear on the square corners. Centered 40/60 left to right and top to bottom. The Old Mill advertising on the back is boldly printed and centered to the far left. This card would be a worthy addition to any high-grade T206, Walter Johnson, or classic Hall of Fame card collection. SMR value for the assigned grade is $1,350. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+.
