1909-1911 T206 Hall of Fame PSA EX-MT 6 Collection Including Mathewson (3)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,231

Collection of three extremely strong high-grade Hall of Famers from the T206 White Borders series, highlighted by a particularly stunning Christy Mathewson, each graded and encapsulated EX-MT 6 by PSA (all submitted by REA): 1) Frank Chance - batting; 2) Christy Mathewson - dark cap; 3) John McGraw - finger in air. All have Sweet Caporal backs. This is a very striking group, comprised exclusively of Hall of Famers, all in an extremely desirable EX-MT condition, from the most popular set of the 1910 era. All are very conservatively graded. These cards were very carefully chosen for purchase by our consignor in the early days of conventions in the 1980s, long before the advent of professional grading, precisely due to their outstanding condition. The Mathewson in particular has an image that really "pops" and could easily be mistaken for Nr/Mt-Mt (appears to have been downgraded due a slight hint of a bend in the extreme lower right corner). Each of these cards is worthy of inclusion in any classic Hall of Fame card collection, or high-grade T206 collection or set. The SMR value for the three cards in the assigned grades is $3,025. Total: 3 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,231
