1910 PC796 Sepia Postcard SGC-Graded Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $940

Collection of three different cards from the rare PC796 sepia postcard set issued in 1910, highlighted by two Hall of Famers, each graded and encapsulated by SGC (all submitted by REA). This group is part of a collection of nine PC796 postcards that have just recently been discovered by a noncollecting family, and are being offered as seven different lots in this auction. This is a sharp-looking group. The manufacturer of this sepia-toned postcard series is unknown. The PC796 set is one of the most striking of the era. The collection is comprised of the following: Roger Bresnahan (HOF, SGC VG/EX 50), Orval Overall (SGC VG 40), and Ed Walsh (HOF, SGC VG 40). Technically in mid grade, the cards in the collection (as was the case with all the cards from this find) have a far superior appearance than is suggested by the technically assigned grades. This is a very attractive trio of these rare and distinctive postcards, with two of the three cards featuring Hall of Famers. Dimensions: 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Total: 3 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $940
