Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $529
1937 R21 Ripley's "Believe It or Not" collection of the first twenty-four cards (#1-24) of the forty-eight in the set, each graded and encapsulated by PSA. Ripley's were printed in sheets of twenty-four cards and issued in two separate twenty-four card series (#1-24 and #25-48). This collection represents a complete set of the low-number series cards. This set has always been appreciated as one of the rarest and most unusual of all 1930s nonsport-card issues. It's impossible not to like them! This is what really rare 1930s nonsport bubble-gum cards are supposed to look like! The set was produced in 1937 by the Wolverine Gum Company. Each card features an incredible fact or story from the Ripley's archives. The rarer high-number cards (#25-48) are missing for completion. The PSA grades are as follows: Three EX-MT 6: #6, 7, and 18 (MC). Three EX 5: #11, 15, and 21 (MC). One VG-EX+ 4.5: #10. Five VG-EX 4: #3, 8, 14, 17, and 20. Three VG 3: #1, 13, and 22. Six GOOD 2: #4, 5, 9, 12, 19, and 23. Three PR 1: #2, 16, and 24. Exceptionally bright, crisp, and clean. This is an extremely attractive collection of this rare and fascinating 1930s nonsport-card issue. Total: 24 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $529
