Frank Sinatra Limited-Edition LeRoy Neiman Serigraph

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,410

Titled The Voice , issued in 2002, serigraph numbered "401/500," signed in pencil by Neiman (grading "10") in the lower margin. Edition limited to 608 total impressions (500 numbered impressions, 100 artist's proofs, and 8 printer's proofs). This particular artwork was specially commissioned by Tina Sinatra for use as the cover illustration for Classic Duets , an album featuring Sinatra's duets from his 1957-1960 television program. Neiman and Sinatra had a close personal relationship and the singer was a frequent subject for the artist over the years. However, most of Neiman's earlier portrayals captured Sinatra on stage or in front of a microphone. According to the commentary on the official LeRoy Neiman website, this piece "unlike all the previous ones, shows Old Blue Eyes quietly sitting still. Captured in shades of aqua and blue, he is at a recording session, appearing typically casual, sitting backwards in a chair and wearing his trademark hat. But while he may look relaxed, he is actually listening intently to a playback of his own singing, judging his voice and performance. Sinatra was a perfectionist and his own harshest critic, and would not accept a 'take' until he thought it was perfect." This is certainly one of Neiman's modern classics and one of the finest Sinatra artworks ever produced. An iconic work in the truest sense, both in regards to the subject and artist. The serigraph measures 22 x 29 inches (image area) and is in Near Mint condition. Triple matted and framed to total dimensions of 34 x 40.5 inches. Please Note: Due to the size and/or weight of this lot, shipping costs (depending on where it is sent and its method of shipping) may be substantial. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+.
