1937 John Cotton Ltd. "Golf Strokes" C/D Complete Set (50): #1 PSA Set Registry!

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,998

Extraordinary high-grade complete 50-card set of 1937 John Cotton Ltd. "Golf Strokes" cards. Both sides of each card features British professional golfer Archie Compston in action: on side C he demonstrates a high lob shot; on side D he demonstrates the scotch run-up. The concept of this set (along with the 1936 John Cotton Ltd. A/B "Golf Strokes" set) is unique in that it was made to be used as a flicker book when fastened together by a rubber band in correct numerical order. This is the only PSA-graded set on the PSA Registry! Each card has been graded and encapsulated by PSA (except one). The set includes six GEM MINT 10s, twelve MINT 9s, eight NM-MT+ 8.5s, twenty-two NM-MT 8s, one VG-EX 4, and one ungraded (#C31/D20, Nr/Mt). The PSA registry overall weighted GPA rating is 8.54. Forty-seven of these cards are the highest-ever PSA-graded examples. The finest set in the world of this scarce and distinctive 1930s golf set. The SMR value for the individual cards is $2,880. Total: 50 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,998
