1926 Spalding Champions PSA MINT 9 Collection (4) Including Walter Hagen
Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $3,231
Extraordinary ultra high-grade collection of four different golfers including Walter Hagen from this rare 1920s multisport set issued by the Spalding Sporting Goods Company in 1926, each graded MINT 9 by PSA. All are the "ad back" variety. The collection is comprised of the following: Walter Hagen (one of only four at this level with none graded higher), Willie Macfarlane (one of only two at this level with none graded higher), Francis Ouimet (one of only two at this level with none graded higher), and George Von Elm (one of only three at this level with none graded higher). In our opinion, these are the most classic cards of the 1920s. They are beautifully and elegantly designed, and magnificently produced. In our eyes, these are the "Ramlys" of the 1920s. This is an extraordinary ultra high-grade collection of four golfers from the 1926 Spalding Champions multisport issue. The SMR value for the individual cards is $9,000. Total: 4 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000+. SOLD FOR $3,231
