1981 McDonald's High School All-American Game Program Signed by Jordan and Others

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $705

Program from the 1981 McDonald's All-American Game, signed on the interior by Michael Jordan and seven other participants. This program ranks as one of the rarest Michael Jordan signed items in existence and it may be unique. We have never seen another example. Dating from his senior year in high school, it is also one of the earliest Michael Jordan basketball-related pieces known. 1981 marked the fourth annual McDonald's All-American Game, a contest that served as a showcase for the top high school basketball players in the United States. The twenty-page program features portrait photos and brief biographies of each contestant, including many who later graduated to the NBA. The eight players who have signed the program in blue ink are Michael Jordan (grading "9," but the signature contrasts poorly against the dark background), Adrian Branch, Chris Mullin, Manuel Forrest, Bill Wennington, Greg Dreiling, Dwayne Polee, and Bobby Lee Hurt. Interestingly, the game has been scored on the interior and it shows that Jordan led all scorers with thirty points. It would be a scenario played out countless times in the future. Each player has signed the program (8.5 x 11 inches) in the area of his respective photo. All of the signatures grade "9" or "10," but like Jordan's, a few contrast poorly against the dark background. The program (8.5 x 11 inches) is partially split along the spine, but both covers and the pages remain firmly attached. A name is printed on the cover and the program displays a number of light creases. In Very Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $705
