1983-1984 University of North Carolina Team-Signed Ball with Jordan
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $1,763
North Carolina commemorative basketball, displaying alternating panels of white and Tar Heel blue, signed in black Sharpie by fourteen members of the 1983-1984 North Carolina men's basketball team: Michael Jordan, Sam Perkins, Matt Doherty, Brad Daugherty, Kenny Smith, Steve Hale, Cecil Exum, Curtis Hunter, Joe Wolf, Dave Popson, Buzz Peterson, Timo Makkonen, Cliff Morris, and one other (illegible). The name "Richard Williams" is written in ink on a white panel. The signatures are all fairly uniform in strength, grading "8/9," with the exception of Popson ("6") and Smith ("6"). The 1983-1984 season marked Jordan's final season at North Carolina, where he starred for three seasons. Jordan's college career began on a high note as he helped lead the Tar Heels to the 1982 NCAA Championship as a freshman. He closed out his career in equally spectacular fashion. Jordan was named the Naismith College Player of the Year in 1984 and was also awarded the prestigious John R. Wooden Award. Jordan-signed items dating from his college days are very scarce, and this team-signed basketball, commemorating his final college season, is a particularly rare, substantial, and historically significant early Jordan-signed item. In Excellent to Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+. SOLD FOR $1,763
