1949 Joe DiMaggio Club Buitoni Pin
Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $529
In 1949 Buitoni Foods sponsored the Joe DiMaggio Club, and all members in good standing received this pin. Apparently there weren't too many members in good standing, as this pin is among the rarest of all Joe DiMaggio pinbacks. Those few examples that have survived tend to be a little rough, as they are litho buttons, which are far more susceptible to damage than celluloid buttons. (Litho pins have their designs printed directly onto metal, and can therefore be very easily scratched, as opposed to celluloid buttons, which have designs printed on paper that is then protected by a celluloid covering.) Diameter: 1.5 inches. This is an exceptional high-grade example of this very rare, condition-sensitive, and universally recognized classic baseball advertising pin. In Excellent condition. Reserve $100. Estimate $200/$300+. SOLD FOR $529
