1956 Topps Pins Collection (123 assorted)

Starting Bid - $800, Sold For - $4,406

Collection of 123 1956 Topps Pins (58 different of the 60 in the set, missing only Jensen and Robinson for completion, plus 65 assorted duplicates). This scarce and very colorful pin set was one of Topps' first specialty issues. Included are all the great stars of the era such as Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Ted Williams, etc. Each pin measures 1-1/8 inches in diameter and features the same player portraits used in the 1956 Topps card set. These pins were sold separately from the cards, packaged in small boxes with gum. The group is in Excellent condition overall, with just a few very slightly lesser. The collection consists of the following (quantities in parentheses): Aaron (4), Amoros (2), Arroyo (2), Banks (3), Berra (2), Black (4), Boone (2), Boyer, Collins, Conley (2), Diering (2), Donovan (2), Finigan (2), Fowler (2), Gomez (2), Groat (2), Haddix (2), Harshman (3), Hatton (2), Hegan (2), Hodges (2), Hofman (2), House (4), Kaline (2), Kennedy (5), Kluszewski, Long (2), Lopez, Mathews (2), Mays, McMillan (2), Miranda (2), Moon (2), Mossi (2), Negray (3), O'Brien (3), Paula (2), Power (3), Rivera (2), Rizzuto (2), Rosen (2), Sauer (2), Sievers (3), Skowron, A. Smith (3), H. Smith (2), M. Smith (2), Snider (2), Spahn, Spooner (2), Stobbs, Sullivan (2), Tremel (2), Triandos (2), Turley (2), Wehmeier (2), Williams, and Zernial (2). Compared to card issues of the 1950s, a strong case can be made that 1956 Topps pins, which are among the rarest and most overlooked of all significant Topps issues, are also one of the most outstanding values for collectors. Total: 123 pins. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $4,406
