1923 New York Yankees World Series Press Pin
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,231
Rare and historic New York Yankees World Series press pin dating from the club’s first World Championship in 1923. The Yankees played the New York Giants in the 1923 World Series, but because the Series was held exclusively in the newly built Yankee Stadium, only one press pin was issued for the Series. However, as the host club, the Yankees were responsible for the design and distribution of the pins. The circular pin incorporates a patriotic red, white, and blue enamel color scheme within a bat-and-ball motif. The lettering reads "World Series/Press/1923/New York." The Yankees christened their new stadium by defeating the Giants in six games to capture the franchise's first World Championship. This is a particularly rare press pin from the 1920s. Manufactured by Dieges & Clust; threaded-post back. Diameter: 1-inch. Ex-Mt. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $3,231
