Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,231
Collection of ten pins (of the 15 in the set) from Morton's Buster Brown Bread advertising pin set, highlighted by all three Hall of Famers in the series including Ty Cobb. The collection consists of the following: Bush, Cobb (HOF, Vg), Crawford (HOF, Vg-Ex), Delahanty, Donovan, Jennings (HOF, "Jennings" written on the back paper, otherwise Ex-Mt), Jones, Moriarty, Mullin, and Schmidt. All have the original advertising back papers complete and intact. There are fifteen pins in the set, each featuring a portrait of a member of the 1909 Detroit Tigers. This colorful set has always been appreciated both for its rarity and its striking design, which includes an illustration of Morton's mascot, Buster Brown, waving a Morton's Bread advertising banner to the left of the player's portrait. The Buster Brown pins have long been recognized as one of the rarest and most desirable advertising pin sets of the era. This is a very attractive collection of these colorful pins, with three in Vg and seven ranging in condition from Vg-Ex to Ex-Mt. Diameter: 1.25 inches each. Total: 10 pins. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $3,231
