1910 P13 Luxello Cigar Pin - Eddie Collins
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $823
This striking advertising pin, issued by Luxello Cigar in 1910, features a portrait image of Hall of Fame second baseman Eddie Collins as a member of the Philadelphia Athletics. Collins is identified by name below his image, as is team affiliation and position. "Luxello Cigar" is lettered at the top. Manufactured by the Parisian Novelty Company of Chicago, as noted on the edge of the pin. Luxello Cigar pins were a regional issue and included only Philadelphia Athletic and Philadelphia Phillies players. Twenty-one different players are currently known to exist. Collins is one of only three Hall of Fame players represented in this rare set (along with Frank Baker and Eddie Plank). The pin (.875 inches in diameter) has normal oxidation to the reverse and is otherwise in spectacular Near Mint condition with perfect contrast. From the Ron Menchine Collection. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $823
