Collection of twenty-eight high-quality baseball celluloid pinbacks from 1898 to the 1960s, including a partial set of six (of the 10 in the set) 1924 Mrs. Sherlock’s Bread advertising pins and many other noteworthy highlights in various conditions as noted. The collection is comprised of the following: 1) 1898 Cameo Pepsin Gum Pin: Donovan (Gd). Diameter: 1.25 inches. 2) 1902 Pittsburgh Pirates "Champions" Pin: Missing pin, some surface cracking, otherwise Gd. Diameter: 1.25 inches. 3) 1902 Pat Donovan "Mgr. - St. Louis Cardinals" Pin: Gd condition. Diameter: 1 inch. 4) 1902 Altoona Base Ball Team "Our Own" Pin: Missing pin, several small surface cracks, otherwise Gd. Interesting, attractive pin and rare. Diameter: 1.75 inches. 5) Circa 1940s Connie Mack Pin: Blue and white ribbons and elephant attached. Vg-Ex/Ex condition. Diameter: 1.25 inches. 6) Circa 1910 Philadelphia Athletics "The Champions - Recruit Little Cigars" Pin: The front is Ex, but the back paper while present has some paper loss. Diameter: 1.25 inches. 7) 1924 "Walter Johnson Testimonial" Pin: Fr-Gd due to heavy staining around perimeter. Low-grade but central portrait image clean. Diameter: 7/8 inches. 8-13) 1924 Mrs. Sherlock's Bread Pins (6 pins, all downgraded to Good in large part due to slight fading of red to borders): Cobb, Johnson, Ruth, Sisler, Speaker, and Wagner. 14) 1930s Pepper Martin Pin: Mint. Diameter: 1.25 inches. 15) 1930s “Colored All-Stars vs. N.Y. Yankees” Pin: rust on reverse otherwise Ex-Mt. Diameter: 1.5 inches. 16) 1935 Babe Ruth Quaker Oats Scorer: "B" on cap variation, Ex. Diameter: 1.75 inches. 17) Circa 1935 "Member Babe Ruth Baseball Club" celluloid pinback. Nr/Mt-Mt example. 18) 1930s Gabby Hartnett "Boys Club - The Stern Clothing Co." Pin: Fr-Gd condition due to tiny cracks to celluloid. Diameter: 7/8 inches. 19) Rare 1940s PM10 Lou Gehrig "Never Forgotten" Pin: Missing pin, otherwise Vg-Ex. Diameter: 1.75 inches. 20) 1940 PM9 Whit Wyatt Brooklyn Dodgers Pin: Nr/Mt. Diameter: 1 inch. Rare pin from an unusual set. 21-23) Three examples of the Jackie Robinson "1947 Rookie of the Year" Pins: All are the same classic red border style. Two are in Ex-Mt condition and one is missing pin, otherwise Ex-Mt, all with normal rust on reverse. Diameter: each 1.75 inches. 24) Circa 1950 Larry Doby "Congratulations" Pin: Ex-Mt condition. Diameter: 1.25 inches. 25) Rare 1950 Philadelphia Phillies Team Pin. Bright and clean, with just a few very small touches of foxing around the perimeter of the rim, still in overall Vg-Ex to Excellent condition. Diamteter: 3.5 inches. 26) circa 1969 Mickey Mantle PM10 Stadium Pin: batting pose; missing pin, otherwise Ex. Diameter: 1.75 inches. 27) circa 1950s Bob Feller "For Mayor" Pin: Ex-Mt condition. Diameter: 7/8 inches. (We have not seen this pin before and assume this is Bob Feller running for mayor!) 28) "Out! Stealing Third!" FDR baseball-theme campaign pin: Vg-Ex condition.
