1999 New York Yankees World Series Trophy
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $5,288
While the 1999 Yankees' season win total would fail to match their record mark of the previous year, the postseason championship games once again witnessed the Yankees returning to form. Easily dispatching both the Rangers and Red Sox, respectively, in the ALDS and ALCS, they continued their World Series dominance by sweeping the Braves in four straight. That triumph represented not only their second consecutive World Championship but their third in four years, thus establishing them as the "team of the decade." Offered is a 1999 New York Yankees World Series trophy commemorating that historic victory. Of all the various trophies and awards created to honor excellence in the field of sports, perhaps none is more attractive or visually impressive than the Major League Baseball World Series trophy, produced by world-renowned jewelers Balfour. The imposing design features thirty gold-colored pennants, bearing the team name of each Major League franchise respectively, displayed around the perimeter of the black wooden base. The interior metal design consists of a silver baseball, set within a gold band, atop which rests a crown. Displayed directly in front of this are the 1999 World Series press pins for the Yankees and the Braves. The gold-colored band affixed around the base reads "World Series Champions - New York Yankees - 1999" in black lettering. The trophy is in Excellent to Mint condition with just a few minor areas of tarnishing. Height: 12 inches. Diameter: 23 inches. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $4,000+. SOLD FOR $5,288
