1962 New York Yankees World Champions Team-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $2,115
Official American League (Cronin) ball signed in black ink by the following twenty-nine members of the 1962 World Champion New York Yankees: Mantle (sweet spot), Berra (sweet spot), Maris, Ford, Blanchard, Clevenger, Long, Howard, Boyer, Bridges (on ball label), Bouton, Linz, Terry, Sheldon, Turley, Kubek, Skowron, Richardson, Hegan (coach), Houk (Mgr.), Daley, Coates, Stafford, Tresh, Lopez, Reed, Arroyo, Moses (coach), and Sain (coach). The year, "62," is written in black ink just to the right of Berra's signature on the sweet spot. Signatures range from "4" to "6," averaging "5." This ball represents the end of an era for the Yankees, as 1962 marked the club's final World Championship of the decade. It would not be until 1977 that a championship banner was once again raised at Yankee Stadium. The manufacturer's stampings are light, but legible; and the ball displays a few tiny surface abrasions (very unobtrusive; mentioned strictly for the sake of extreme accuracy). In Excellent to Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $2,115
