1955 New York Yankees American League Champions Team-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $940
Spalding "Official Baseball" signed in blue and black ink by the following twenty-five members of the 1955 American League champion New York Yankees: Mantle (sweet spot), Berra (sweet spot), Rizzuto, Slaughter, Ford, Wiesler, Grim, Silvera, Coleman, Leja, Cerv, Skowron, Collins, Sturdivant, Bauer, Morgan, Howard, Kucks, Hunter, Carey, Lopat, Turley, McDougald, Robinson, and Konstanty. The number "2" is written in blue ink on a side panel. The signatures of both Rizzuto and Slaughter are later additions that have been signed over the vintage signatures of Tommy Byrne and Irv Noren, respectively. The signatures range from "5" to "9," averaging "7." This ball has no clubhouse signatures (as is so commonly found with Yankee balls from this era), and the very bold and elaborate manufacturer's stampings make this example particularly attractive. The ball displays a few extremely light abrasions and is in Excellent to Mint condition overall. LOAs from James Spence/JSA and PSA/DNA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $940
