1952-1955 Topps Autographed Baseball-Card Collection (464)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $7,638

Collection of 464 autographed Topps baseball cards spanning the years 1952 through 1955. This is a very substantial collection of signed Topps cards from the golden age of bubble-gum cards in the early 1950s. This is a collection unto itself, or could provide the foundation for the assembly of complete signed sets (especially for the 1953, 1954, and 1955 Topps sets, as more than half of each of these sets is included here). A total of twenty-three Hall of Famer signatures are featured in the collection, representing fifteen different players. Also included here are two signed high-number cards from the 1952 Topps set and thirty-two signed high-number cards (out of sixty) from the 1953 Topps set. All signatures, penned in a variety of inks, appear on the front. Grades range from "4" to "10," averaging "8/9." Although we did not notice any duplicates, it is possible that we could have missed one or two. In our inventory breakdown, we have noted the four different partial sets offered here, the number of signed cards per set (in parentheses), all of the Hall of Famer signed cards in the respective set, and any high-number signed cards. 1952 Topps (41 signed cards): # 26 Irvin, 59 Roberts, 65 Slaughter, 88 Feller, 216 Ashburn (grading "8"), 322, and 353. 1953 Topps (145 signed cards out of 274 cards in set): # 41 Slaughter, 54 Feller, 61 Wynn (grading "5"), 62 Irvin, 76 Reese, 125 D. Williams, 147 Spahn, 151 Wilhelm (grading "7"), 207 Ford, 228 Newhouser, 223, 224, 225, 226, 229, 231, 232, 234, 235, 236, 239, 240, 242, 247, 248, 249, 250, 251, 252, 254, 256, 257, 259, 260, 262, 263, 266, 269, 277, 279, and 280. 1954 Topps (172 signed cards out of 206 cards in set): # 3 Irvin, 32 Snider, 36 Wilhelm, 86 Herman, and 94 Banks. 1955 Topps (106 signed cards out of 206 cards in set): # 19 Herman, 31 Spahn, and 100 Irvin. Cards range in grade from Fr to Ex, averaging Vg. Total: 464 signed cards. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $7,638
