Walter Johnson, Nap Lajoie, and Frankie Frisch Autograph Collection (3)
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,998
Collection of three individually signed items bearing the respective signatures of Walter Johnson, Nap Lajoie, and Frankie Frisch. 1) Photo of Walter Johnson (7.25 x 9.5 inches), featured on the reverse of the front cover to the January 1933 issue of Baseball Magazine, inscribed in black fountain pen atop his image: "Best wishes to my friend David - Walter Johnson." Although Johnson's signature is extremely boldly scripted, grading "9/10," it contrasts somewhat poorly against the dark background of his suit. Vg, with a number of moderate creases. 2) Hall of Fame black-and-white postcard (Albertype) of Nap Lajoie, signed by Lajoie in blue ink (grading "10") along the front base. Vg, with both paper and adhesive residue on the reverse as a result of having long ago been glued into and later removed from an album. 3) Hall of Fame black-and-white postcard (Albertype) of Frankie Frisch, signed by Frisch in black fountain pen (grading "10") along the top front. Vg, with a few tiny areas of discoloration on the front and a significant amount of surface paper loss on the reverse as a result of its having been removed from an album. Total: 3 items (one photo and two Hall of Fame black-and-white postcards). LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,998
