Trio of Topps Sponsorship Displays - Each Signed by Numerous Players Including Mantle, Aaron, and Musial + 28 Signed Travel Receipts

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,410

Over the years Topps has sponsored many special events related to both Major League Baseball and the hobby. Naturally, special posters were produced to help promote the respective event. While those promotional displays are now collectibles themselves, the three offered here are unlike any others. Each of these Topps display pieces originates from the personal collection of Topps executive Sy Berger and at the time was specially signed for Sy by players associated with the respective event. 1) The first item is a special souvenir poster titled "From the Topps Archives" that was produced in conjunction with the 1991 "East Coast National" Show. The commemorative poster (10.5 x 13.75 inches), which pictures images of Mickey Mantle's 1952 Topps rookie card (#311), Hank Aaron's 1954 Topps rookie card (#128), Frank Robinson's 1957 Topps rookie card (#35), and Stan Musial's 1958 Topps All-Star card (#476), has been signed in blue Sharpie (grading "10") by each player either above or below his respective card. In Near Mint condition. Framed to total dimensions of 12.75 x 16 inches. 2) The second piece promotes a Major League Baseball Players Alumni event titled "The Festival of Baseball 1992," which was sponsored by Topps. The large display, printed on board, is obviously unique, and has been signed in black Sharpie (grading "10") by thirty-one former players, including Johnny Mize, Bob Feller, Jim Perry, "Mudcat" Grant, Harry Walker, Casey Cox, Bob Miller, Mickey Vernon, Gary Bell, Ryne Duren, Danny Ozark, Vern Law, Paul Blair, Tommie Agee, Ned Garver, Roy Sievers, Randy Hundley, Tug McGraw, and Rennie Stennett. The display (24 x 24 inches) has light foxing and shows moderate wear. In Very Good condition overall. 3) The final piece was produced for display at the 1997 All-Star Game and Fanfest held in Cleveland, Ohio, and promotes the "Topps Major League Baseball Legends Autograph Guests." The poster (18.25 x 12.5 inches), printed on paper stock, has been signed in blue or black marker by forty-two former players, including Enos Slaughter, George Kell, Fergie Jenkins, Brooks Robinson, Luis Aparicio, Willie Stargell, Robin Roberts, Joe Garagiola, Mickey Vernon, Lou Johnson, Bill Madlock, Don Johnson, Jim O'Toole, Al Oliver, Bill Cash, Joe Black, Herb Score, Mel Harder, Dean Chance, Gene Woodling, Dave Pope, Tommy Tresh, Wilmer Fields, Stanley Glenn, Frank Thomas, Bill Freehan, Ralph Branca, Hal Naragon, Max Manning, Billy Pierce, Bob Keegan, Gene Benson, Denny Galehouse, George Foster, and Carl Erskine. In Excellent condition. Matted (by means of clear tape on the reverse) to total dimensions of 22 x 16.25 inches. Since Topps sponsored the signing show, it made a point of reimbursing each of the special attendees their travel costs to and from the event. Accompanying the poster are twenty-eight Topps travel receipts (approximately 8.5 x 4.75 inches) for the 1997 Cleveland Fanfest show, each signed by the respective player, including those of Kell, Slaughter, Feller, Aparicio, Tresh, Thomas, Pierce, Foster, Naragon, Madlock, Harder, Freehan, and Chance. A program from the 1997 Fanfest also accompanies. In Excellent condition overall. Total: 3 signed displays plus 28 signed Fan Fest travel receipts and program. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,410
