1979-1981 Topps Baseball Factory-Sealed Rack Cases (3)

Three unopened Topps rack cases from 1979, 1980, and 1981: 1) 1979 rack case containing three boxes with twenty-four packs per box for a total of seventy-two packs. With each pack containing thirty-nine cards, the case represents a total of 2,808 cards. 2) 1980 rack case containing three boxes with twenty-four packs per box for a total of seventy-two packs. With each pack containing forty-two cards, the case represents a total of 3,024 cards. 3) 1981 rack case containing three boxes with twenty-four packs per box for a total of seventy-two packs. With each pack containing fifty cards, the case represents a total of 3,600 cards. There are no guarantees with reference to grading unopened material, but it would be hard to imagine that these three cases do not include a generous supply of potential Mint 9s and Gem Mint 10s of every player in their respective set, including rookie cards of Ozzie Smith, Rickey Henderson, Tim Raines, and key cards of Rose and Ryan. The 2009 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards book value for a 1979 Topps rack box is $575, a 1980 Topps rack box is $450, and the book value for 1981 Topps rack box is $120. The three cases in this lot contain a total of 15 wax boxes with a total book value of $3,435. Original factory seals intact with typical outer box wear.
