1978 Topps Baseball Factory-Sealed Rack Case
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $4,406
Complete original unopened rack case of 1978 Topps baseball contains three boxes with twenty-four packs per box for a total of seventy-two packs. With each pack containing thirty-nine cards, the case represents a total of 2,808 cards. The 1978 Topps set includes rookie cards of Murray, Molitor, and Trammell, and key cards of Brett and Ryan. While it is impossible to provide guarantees with reference to grading of unopened material, it would be hard to imagine that these two cases do not include a generous supply of Mint 9s and Gem Mint 10s of every player in the set, including Murray and Molitor. The 2009 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards book value for a single 1978 Topps rack box is $925, thus the book value for three boxes as found here in an unopened rack case is $2,775. Original factory seals intact with typical outer box wear. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $4,406
