1952 Topps Partial Set Including 36 High-Numbers (346 of 407 cards) Plus 110 Duplicates

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $11,163

This 1952 Topps near-set is comprised of 346 different cards out of 407 in the set (representing 85% of the set). Included is a complete low-number run (#1-310) and thirty-six of the ninety-seven rare high numbers (#311-407) including Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, and Ed Mathews’ rookie card. To many, 1952 Topps is the ultimate postwar baseball-card set. The offered collection is sixty-one high-number cards shy of being a complete set. The missing numbers are 311 Mantle, 318, 319, 320, 322, 323, 327, 328, 329, 330, 331, 332, 333 Reese, 335, 336, 338, 339, 341, 342 Labine, 343, 344, 347, 348, 349, 350, 351, 352, 354, 355, 357, 359, 361, 362, 364, 365, 369 Groat, 370, 371, 372 McDougald, 373, 374, 375, 376, 377 Dressen, 382 Jones, 383, 384 Crosetti, 385, 386, 387, 389, 390, 391, 392 Wilhelm, 395, 396 Williams, 398, 401, 403, 404, and 406 Nuxhall. We have selected eight cards to be graded by SGC. The balance of the cards grade 20% Vg-Ex (includes a few slightly better), and 80% range from Pr to Vg (averaging Good). This is an attractive low- to medium-grade near set of one of card collecting's greatest and most revered classics, in a very desirable and relatively affordable grade (compared to the much greater cost of higher-grade 1952 Topps cards) and representing a very substantial start toward a complete set. Also included with the near-set are 110 duplicates, in similar condition as the near-complete set, highlighted by card #261 Willie Mays (Gd) and #407 Ed Mathews rookie (Pr). Total 456 cards (346 different plus 110 duplicates). Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000.
