1949 Bowman Complete Set Graded by PSA, SGC, & GAI (240)

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $8,225

Complete 1949 Bowman baseball set (240 cards), entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA, SGC, or GAI (unless otherwise noted). This is an extremely attractive, very carefully assembled, crisp, clean, high-grade set, rarely offered this nice as a complete set, with many scarce high numbers and most key cards in particularly high grade. The condition ranges from EX to NM-MT, with 150 of the 240 cards cards ranging from EX-MT to NM-MT. These are particularly high grades across the board for a 1949 Bowman set. Assembled by a old-time collector who has long specialized in 1949 Bowmans, all exhibit bright colors and crisp focus. Many rookie cards of Hall of Famers are featured in this classic postwar issue, highlighted by Roy Campanella, Richie Ashburn, Duke Snider, Robin Roberts, Early Wynn, and Bob Lemon. PSA condition report (129 cards): Six NM-MT 8: #11 Boudreau, 12, 27 Feller, 76, 137, and 214 Ashburn RC (OC). Card #233 (Larry Doby's rookie card) is graded by a company (CSA) with which we have no experience. That one card appears to be altered, but someone else may have a different opinion. This is a very impressive set, carefully assembled by a very long-time collector. This set is far superior to the average 1949 Bowman set. 1949 Bowman is the most underrated set in terms of rarity among Topps and Bowman sets issued between 1948 and 1955. Compared to other sets of the era, we rarely see 1949 Bowman sets, let alone in such high grade. The equivalent SMR value for the individual cards is $13,626. Total 240 cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000++. SOLD FOR $8,225
