1949 Bowman #84 Roy Campanella Rookie - PSA NM-MT 8

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $823

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Of the 663 examples graded by PSA, only eighteen cards have been graded higher. Extremely strong and striking high-grade example of Roy Campanella’s rookie card from the 1949 Bowman set. 1949 Bowmans are one of the most difficult of all postwar issues to collect in high grade, primarily because they so often have naturally soft corners due to the paper stock on which they are printed. This exceptional example is bright, crisp, and clean, both front and back, with sharp corners, perfect registration, deep, rich colors, and centering slightly towards the top right. The portrait of Campy practically jumps off the flawless bold, orange background. One of the key classics of all postwar baseball-card issues, this is an extremely attractive high-grade example of Campanella's rookie card and one of the key Hall of Famers in the 1949 Bowman set. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800.
