1936 R322 Goudey Complete Set (24)

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,293

Very attractive high-grade complete set of 1936 R322 Goudey. Seventeen cards range from Ex to Ex-Mt; seven cards grade Vg-Ex (with a couple slightly lesser). This is a sharp-looking, fairly high grade, and seldom-offered complete set of this classic 1930s Goudey issue. Each card features a black-and-white image of a player. The reverse features a bio of the player and two terms related to the game of baseball (foul, strike, out). Keys: Cochrane (Ex), Crosetti (two light pencil marks on the reverse, otherwise Ex-Mt), Cuyler (Ex), Ferrell (Ex-Mt), Gomez (Ex), Greenberg (Ex/Ex-Mt), Harris (Ex-Mt), Klein (Vg-Ex/Ex), Martin (Ex-Mt), and Waner (slight trim, otherwise Nr/Mt). One of the most overlooked of all 1933-1941 gum-card issues, in part because the set does not include Ruth or Gehrig, and because of this, also one of the most reasonably priced scarce sets of the era. 1936 Goudeys are rarely offered in set form. Total 24 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,293
