1932 R328 U.S. Caramel and 1933 R319 Goudey Babe Ruth Collection (3)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $4,700
Three classic 1930s cards of Babe Ruth from two different very popular sets: 1) 1932 R328 U.S. Caramel: #32 Babe Ruth (SGC GOOD 30; Vg card downgraded by SGC due to small faint initials "LF" written in pencil above Ruth's first name). 2-3) 1933 R319 Goudey (2 cards): #144 and 181 Babe Ruth (both are graded "BCCG 7 Very Good or Better.") Please do not be mislead by the numerical grade on these flips. These are great cards, but they are extremely pleasing Very Good condition examples (and magnificent ones at that; both are beautiful cards). BCCG is a second grading service offered by Beckett that utilizes a different numerical grading scale than Beckett Vintage. As per their website, "BCCG features a modified numerical grading scale, with each level representing a range of standard conditions [Mint or better, Near mint or better, Excellent or better, etc.]." Because this service is not widely used, if we don't spell this out clearly, a bidder might think these cards grade NM 7 due to the large "7" on the flips, especially since at a glance as they are such nice-looking cards, and the very light horizontal creases on each are not easily seen in a scan or catalog photo. These are really sharp-looking VG cards! Both are bright, crisp, and clean, with an appearance stronger than their technically accurate grade of Vg. Three very attractive cards of the "Bambino" from two of the most popular sets of the era. Total 3 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $4,700
