1929-1933 Four-On-One Exhibits Card Collection Including Ruth & Gehrig (6)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,998

Collection of six different Four-On-One Exhibit cards, spanning the years of 1929 to 1933, from three different sets, highlighted by Hall of Famers Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig (one card features both), and many other Hall of Famers (including rookie cards of several HOFers), all graded by SGC. In 1929 the Exhibit Supply Co. of Chicago changed the design of its cards and began issuing Four-On-One Exhibits featuring four different players per card, all from the same team. This unique set design lasted for nine years until 1938. In the following listing, cards are identified according to the numbers provided by the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards checklist. 1) 1929-1930 Four-On-One Exhibit: #21 Durocher/Gehrig/Koenig/Ruth (VG/EX 50). This is the key card from that first year Four-On-One set and features portraits of Yankee standouts Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Leo Durocher (rookie) and Mark Koenig. This is a great card! 2) 1931-1932 Four-On-One Exhibit (4 cards): #3 Appling (rookie)/Cissell/Kamm/Lyons (EX 60), 6 Bartell/Friberg/Hurst/McCurdy (VG/EX 50), 15 Combs/Dickey (rookie)/Lazzeri/Pennock (VG/EX 50; this is one of the few Four-On-One Exhibits to feature four Hall of Famers), and 17 Cronin (rookie)/Manush (rookie)/Marberry/Spencer (FAIR 20). 3) 1933 Four-On-One Exhibit: #11 English/Grimm/Root/Stevenson (GOOD 30). These cards naturally each have tremendous eye-appeal; together, they look even more impressive. These Four-On-One Exhibits present an extraordinary value for quality cards from the 1930s. This is a very attractive collection of six high-quality cards, highlighted by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, from three different rare Four-On-One Exhibit card sets. Total 6 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,998
