1911 T3 Turkey Red PSA-Graded Collection Including Mathewson (11)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,231

Collection of eleven T3 Turkey Red cabinets, highlighted by Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson, each of which has been graded and encapsulated by PSA (except one SGC): #15 Elberfeld (PR-FR 1), 25 McIntyre (GOOD 2), 27 Christy Mathewson (HOF, bright and crisp but encapsulated as authentic due to the lower right corner missing and tape repair on the back), 32 Overall (PR-FR 1), 37 Sallee (GOOD 2), 38 Stahl (GOOD 2), 46 Safe at Third (VG 3), 49 Close Play at Second (SGC Authentic), 103 Konetchy (PSA VG 3 [MK], MK qualifier due to the card number written by original owner on back; Turkey Red back), 111 Niles (VG 3; Turkey Red back), and 123 Thomas (GOOD 2; Turkey Red back). Turkey Red cabinets are widely recognized as one of the most substantial, highest-quality baseball-card sets ever issued. Turkey Reds are large cards which are very susceptible to damage. These cards have been downgraded due to various mostly minor flaws typical for T3s, and are visually far more appealing than suggested by their technically accurate grades. SMR value is $5,600. Total 11 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+. SOLD FOR $3,231
