1911 T205 Gold Border Complete Master Set Minus One (208 Plus 11 Variations): #1 SGC Set Registry

Starting Bid - $10,000, Sold For - $29,375

Presented is an exceptionally attractive complete master set (minus one) of 208 cards plus eleven variations for a total of 219 cards (missing just Hoblitzell - no stats variation for completion, which is offered separately as its own lot), all graded and encapsulated by SGC. The T205 Gold Borders set is universally recognized as one of the most classic of all tobacco-card issues and includes all the great stars of the era and many rarities that make this set one of the most challenging and difficult-to-complete of all tobacco-card sets. This set is rated as the number-one and only complete master set on the SGC Set Registry with an overall grade average of 50.56. This is a gorgeous set, rarely offered in complete-set form in such high grade. As anyone who has seen graded T205s can verify, T205s tend to be graded very harshly, especially when graded by SGC, and almost all of these cards have an appearance far superior to their assigned grades. This complete set has been very carefully assembled by an extremely dedicated advanced collector over a period of many years, and represents a tremendous collecting achievement. Many of the cards, the foundation of this extraordinary set, originate from a single original-owner collection purchased many years ago, and that literally had not seen the light of day since 1911.

In the following condition composite, cards are identified by the numbers provided in the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards checklist. The equivalent SMR value for the individual cards is $40,435. Total 219 cards. Reserve $10,000. Estimate $20,000/$30,000+. SOLD FOR $29,375
