1909-1911 T206 Ty Cobb - Red Background - PSA EX-MT 6 - El Principe De Gales

Starting Bid - $800, Sold For - $7,050

Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. High-grade example of what is universally recognized as one of Cobb's most striking cards. The Red Background pose has long been considered one of the great classics in the T206 set. The offered example has a particularly striking portrait, brilliant colors with a strong red background, is exceptionally clean, both front and back (one insignificant mark on reverse), is very well centered (just slightly toward the left border), with four square corners displaying just a hint of wear (predominately the upper left corner), and large, full borders. This is a very sharp-looking high-grade example of one of the key cards from the premier tobacco issue of the 1910 era. Very unusual El Principe De Gales advertising on reverse. Without reference to the scarce back, SMR value is $2,750. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $7,050
