Jerry Rice Signed Limited-Edition LeRoy Neiman Serigraph
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $823
Titled Jerry Rice, issued in 1995, serigraph numbered "246/250," flawlessly signed in pencil in the lower margin by Jerry Rice and LeRoy Neiman (each grading "10"). Edition limited in number to 305 total impressions (250 numbered impressions, 50 artist's proofs, and 5 printer's proofs). While Neiman has created thirty football-related serigraphs over the years, very few have been dedicated to specific players: this is one of just five that honors an individual player (the vast majority are game scenes). At the time this piece was issued, Rice was universally regarded as the greatest wide receiver in the history of the game. His performance during the 1995 season only enhanced his reputation, as he set an NFL single-season record for receiving yards (1,848) and caught a career-high 122 passes. Holder of numerous career receiving records, as well as being the all-time leader in touchdowns, Rice participated in thirteen Pro Bowls and was a ten-time first-team All Pro selection. The serigraph measures 19.5 x 37.25 inches (image area) and displays remnants of mounting tape along the top edge on the reverse; otherwise in Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600.
