Joe DiMaggio Signed Limited-Edition LeRoy Neiman Serigraph
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,525
Titled The DiMaggio Cut, issued in 1998, serigraph numbered "233/458," and flawlessly signed in pencil along the lower margin by both Joe DiMaggio and LeRoy Neiman (each grading "10"). Edition limited to 554 impressions (458 numbered impressions, 90 artist's proofs, and 6 printer's proofs). This is the premier art print of Joe DiMaggio and one of the most widely recognized images of the famed "Yankee Clipper." This is one of the great Joe DiMaggo art pieces and one of the premier Neiman serigraphs. Examples are rarely seen at public auction and this is only the second we have ever offered. (Note: Serigraphs should not be confused with the prints of this art piece, which are very popular with collectors, especially as signed examples were made available by the DiMaggio estate after his passing, but which are smaller, not signed by Neiman, and are limited-edition printed posters, as opposed to serigraphs, an extremely elaborate and expensive art production process. This is an original serigraph and is the ideal.) DiMaggio passed away just one year after this serigraph was issued, making it one of the last premium pieces ever signed by him. The serigraph measures 38.5 x 30.75 inches (image area) and is in Near Mint condition. Accompanied by its original COA from Knoedler Publishing. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000. SOLD FOR $3,525
