Mike Schmidt Signed Limited-Edition LeRoy Neiman Serigraph
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $940
Titled The Slugger, issued in 1990, serigraph numbered "163/300," flawlessly signed in pencil in the lower margin by Mike Schmidt and LeRoy Neiman (both grading "10"). Edition limited in number to 356 total impressions (300 numbered impressions, 50 artist's proofs, and 6 printer's proofs). This modern classic, issued the year following Schmidt's retirement from the game in 1989, is widely recognized as the premier Schmidt signed display piece. Schmidt is considered by many to be the greatest third baseman in baseball history. In addition to his ten Gold Glove Awards, Schmidt also garnered three MVP Awards and is one of only twenty-three players to hit 500 or more home runs. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995 and was later named to baseball's prestigious All-Century Team in 1999. The serigraph measures 22 x 32 inches (image area) and displays four small areas of surface paper loss/adhesive residue at the extreme top of the white margin (of no consequence and mentioned strictly for the sake of extreme accuracy) as a result of the print having once been mounted and framed, and which will naturally mat out when framed; the serigraph is otherwise in Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
