1964-1965 Topps Hockey Complete SGC-Graded Set (110)

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $7,050

Spectacular high-grade complete set of 1964-1965 Topps Hockey, one of the most popular and classic of all hockey-card sets. The issue is packed with Hall of Famers, rookies, and extremely tough-to-find short prints. This complete high-grade set of 110 cards is entirely graded and encapsulated by SGC. 61 cards range from Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, 48 cards are Ex, and one slightly lesser. Many cards appear far nicer than the already impressive SGC-assigned grades, and the set presents with a remarkable degree of consistency in terms of condition. The SGC grades are as follows: Four NM/MT 88: #46, 49, 50, and 57. Seventeen NM+ 86: #7, 11, 12 Hall (HOF), 15, 16, 24 Gilbert (HOF), 33 Beliveau (HOF), 38, 41, 45 Imlach (HOF), 51, 58 Williams (SP), 60, 76, 77, 78, and 89 Howe (HOF). Twenty-three NM 84: #4 Ferguson, 14, 20 Hull (HOF), 23, 29, 34, 40 Bower (HOF), 42, 53, 55 2nd Checklist, 65, 66 Angotti (RC), 69 Armstrong (HOF), 70 Schmidt (HOF), 81, 83 Howell (HOF), 84, 91 Nesterenko (SP), 94 Keon (HOF), 97, 101, 102 Horton (HOF), and 103. Seventeen EX/NM 80: #6 Sawchuk (HOF), 17, 32, 36, 47 Crozier (RC), 61, 62, 63, 74 Villemure (SP), 75, 80 Rousseau (SP), 85 Mahovlich (HOF), 93, 95 Delvecchio (HOF), 99, 109 Pilote AS (HOF), and 110 Hall AS (HOF). Twenty-eight EX+ 70: #1 Martin (RC), 2, 5, 9, 13, 19, 21, 28, 30, 35, 39, 43 Blake (HOF), 44 Kelly (HOF), 52, 54 1st Checklist, 56, 59 Pilote (HOF, SP), 64 Pappin (RC), 67 Seiling (RC), 71 Shack, 72, 79, 82 Lindsay (HOF), 87, 90, 92 Paille (SP), 104, and 105 Horton AS (HOF, SP). Twenty EX 60: #3, 8, 10, 18, 22, 26, 27, 31 Mikita (HOF), 37, 48 Richard (HOF), 68 Plante (HOF), 73 Maki (SP), 86 Bathgate (HOF), 88 Tremblay, 96, 98 Hicke (SP), 100 Bucyk (HOF), 106 Mikita AS (HOF, SP), 107 Hull AS (HOF), and 108. One VG/EX 50: #25. The oversized design of the 1964-1965 Topps Hockey set makes this issue particularly susceptible to damage, and makes the assembly of high-grade sets all the more difficult. This is an exceptionally attractive high-grade set, far above average for this issue, with tremendous eye-appeal across the board. A high-quality and very carefully assembled complete set of one of card collecting's most popular hockey issues. Total 110 cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $7,050
